Wellness is for everyone. Even for long-haired, fully tattooed metalheads, punks, and glam rockers. This was also the idea at the “Hotel Falter” in the Bavarian Forest – where some of the rooms were promptly transformed into backstage abodes. Welcome to Germany’s probably only rocking wellness hotel.
Hang out backstage
Anyone who headbangs a lot also needs to get their neck kneaded. Following this old folk wisdom, the operators of the Wellness Hotel Falter in Drachselsried in the Bavarian Forest have transformed some of the rooms into real rocker rooms. Records adorn the walls, candlesticks are replaced by whisky bottles, the coffee table is an old bass drum, and black is the predominant color. A cliché, but in the best possible sense. The “rock level” of the rooms varies from “a little” to “a lot” – according to taste.
But relaxation at the Hotel Falter is not only available during sleep. A bio and a Finnish sauna bring you up to operating temperature, and you can cool off in the indoor pool afterwards. Those who want to warm up particularly intensely can choose the infrared sauna. And on the spa terrace with garden, you can relax excellently and dream of the next concert. The relaxation lineup is rounded off perfectly with massages and Ayurvedic treatments. And for night owls, the hotel’s indoor pool is open 24/7.
Top-notch catering
Eating is also pleasantly uncomplicated. In the hotel restaurant Fräulein Anna, you can eat unpretentiously but with ambition. In the restaurant, which is decorated in red and gold, you can enjoy burgers and steaks as well as delicious vegan meals with regional and seasonal ingredients or – fitting for the sauna – a Chinese hot pot. There are no wishes left unfulfilled.
But the real headliner is the surroundings! Because from Drachselsried, the Bavarian Forest can be explored excellently, whether in summer or winter. The primeval landscapes are perfect for hiking, sledding, and generally marveling at the breathtaking nature that has been preserved here on the German-Czech border. And at the reception, you can get current concert and festival recommendations upon request. After all, it’s a rock hotel.
