For two months, the Port des Lumières in Hamburg will be transformed into a spaceship for all the senses. With its new interactive exhibition “Destination Cosmos: The Immersive Space Experience,” Hamburg’s hotspot for digital art takes visitors on a trip through star fields, supernovae, and galactically good soundscapes.
From July 3 to August 31, 2025, the new exhibition at Port de Lumières in Hamburg will catapult visitors out of their everyday lives and into space. Amidst gigantic projections and orchestral music, your gaze will wander from Saturn to the sun while the universe pulsates around you.

A summer highlight for anyone who can’t get enough of black holes, glowing gas clouds, and dancing planets. And maybe you want to escape the rain or the heat.
Space Feeling at Port de Lumières in Hamburg
Whether you’re a budding astronaut or a big science fiction fan, “Cosmos” brings humanity’s dream of space to an artistic stage. The projections are the result of real space collaboration, using data from the French space agency CNES and NASA.
The whole thing was designed by Culturespaces Studio, specialists in visual wow effects. And the music? Wagner’s “Rheingold” overture meets David Bowie, Woodkid (we like!) and The Rolling Stones. A soundtrack made for stargazing.

Showtimes, Specials & Magical Moments
To give the galactic program enough space, new opening hours will apply in July and August: daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. The journey begins with the ongoing exhibitions Klimt, Hundertwasser & Journey (for more info click here) in the morning (10 a.m.–1:30 p.m.), with “Cosmos” taking off at 2 p.m. Advance ticket sales begin on June 12 at 12 noon.
On top of that, two special formats will start parallel to the Cosmos program. First: Immersive Yoga. Yes, you read that right – unwind under star nebulae! Second: Evenings for Klimt fans who want to immerse themselves in turn-of-the-century Vienna from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Information on the dates is available online.
Double Galaxy: Discount Promotion with the Planetarium
If you want to see lots of stars in Hamburg, you can get a discount in July. Anyone with a ticket for the Planetarium or “Cosmos” between July 3 and August 3, 2025, will pay 20 percent less admission at the other venue. As long as the ticket is ‘regular’ or “children’s” and is presented directly at the box office (not possible online!).
Further information on opening hours and prices is available on the Port de Lumières website.
