Wolfsburg is a car city—and it has a car city, called “Autostadt”. That’s the name of the huge VW experience center, which borders the car manufacturer’s factory premises on the Mittelland Canal in northern Germany. And in the “Autostadt”, the Ritz-Carlton, Wolfsburg is a first-class hotel that we took a closer look at.
The Very Best Location
Even before arriving at the hotel, we are already impressed by The Ritz-Carlton, Wolfsburg: the route there takes us right through the middle of the VW “Autostadt” with its imposing car silos, proverbial automotive cathedrals. Exciting: the road leading to the hotel is made up of different surfaces. So the drive there feels like a little journey through time.

Once we arrive at the hotel, we are impressed by the skillful blend of elegant design and inviting atmosphere. The crackling fireplace in the lobby lounge creates a cosy feel-good area. Just the right thing to help us settle in. We are in a five-star hotel, after all. And the luxurious style goes hand in hand with the impressive industrial backdrop of the “Autostadt”. Creative design details are hidden in every corner of the hotel, making it fun to explore.
Hollywood-Level Accommodation
The guests at the Ritz-Carlton couldn’t be more diverse. Quite a few come here to pick up their new VW in the “Autostadt”. There is even a special offer that includes overnight accommodation. But many guests also come to enjoy the Michelin-starred cuisine at Sven Elverfeld‘s “Aqua.” They are joined by business people and city travelers who want to discover Wolfsburg from here. In short, the hotel is home to the much-vaunted colorful mix. And they all appreciate the excellent service. The combination of luxury, service, and design has also won over stars such as Elton John. The music legend stayed here regularly and flew by helicopter to his concerts – only to return again afterwards. If that’s not a testimonial, what is?

Massage With Machine Oil?
But there is also plenty of room for “mere mortals”: the Ritz-Carlton has 170 rooms and suites, and there is no shortage of space anywhere. The club floor is particularly posh. It opens up access to the recently renovated club lounge, with a new buffet area and state-of-the-art wine cooling systems. No culinary wish remains unfulfilled. And in this elegantly designed area offering the highest level of comfort, it almost doesn’t matter whether you’re sipping coffee or champagne. Both taste great.
At such a luxurious hotel, we also expect a first-class wellness program. And the spa at the Ritz-Carlton definitely delivers! The outdoor pool floating in the lagoon, which guests can swim in even in winter thanks to heating, is a must-visit during a stay at the hotel. Especially in the cold season, when fog settles over the surrounding area, the pool with the power plant behind it is an irresistible photo opportunity. In addition, the wellness area with saunas, fitness center, steam bath, and beauty and massage rooms ensures complete relaxation.

Everything Except Currywurst
When it comes to dining, you are spoiled for choice. How about a stylish evening and an excellently mixed drink in the elegant Newman’s Bar? Whether you prefer classic long drinks or colorful cocktails, this is the place to be. And in the separate smoking lounge, there is a large selection of renowned cigars. Enjoy!

The “Terra*” restaurant is sustainable and extra healthy. Because the motto here is “Surprisingly natural.” The menu is based on close cooperation with local partners and the use of regional ingredients. Always with the idea of letting the natural flavors shine through. However, the undisputed culinary highlight is the gourmet restaurant “Aqua” – run by none other than Sven Elverfeld. The celebrity chef, who has been working here since 2009, has now earned his restaurant three Michelin stars. With 36 seats, a visit remains an intimate experience, and the signature dish, champagne sorbet, is not to be missed.

A Feast for the Eyes
In fact, the rest of the hotel is also a feast for the eyes. Art is omnipresent at the Ritz-Carlton, Wolfsburg. More than 650 works of art are distributed throughout the hotel, creating a cultural ambience and providing constant inspiration. We love it! And it makes a visit all the more worthwhile. Whether it’s to pick up a car, marvel at celebrities, or simply because you want to indulge in a few days of luxury.
