The Force in Stuttgart

Star Wars fans take note: starting July 18, you can travel to a galaxy far, far away in Stuttgart. That’s when the traveling exhibition “The Fans Strike Back” opens its doors. Read on to find out what you can see there.

Photo opportunities around every corner

An exhibition by fans, for fans: that’s the traveling exhibition “The Fans Strike Back,” which will transform the Hanns-Martin-Schleyer-Halle in Stuttgart into a galaxy far, far away starting December 20. The more than 1,000 exhibits, all related to Star Wars, are not original movie sets, costumes, or yellowed scripts.

Instead, the exhibition’s collection consists of fan-made declarations of love for one of the most influential film series of all time that have become reality. But that’s not meant to be a slight – quite the opposite. Rather, “The Fans Strike Back” conveys a sense of how great the fascination with “Star Wars” was from the very beginning and still is today. Visitors can even sit on some of the exhibits, such as a scale model speeder bike, and have their photo taken.

Exactly the Droid You’re Looking for

The diversity of the exhibition is truly breathtaking. Whether it’s authentic costumes, life-size figures and sculptures, or even a podracer and a snowspeeder in scale size, almost every scene from the films can be found in one form or another. A real highlight are the ten authentic lightsaber replicas, including one belonging to Luke Skywalker.

A very special part of the exhibition is the R2-D2 collection, which is essentially an exhibition within the exhibition. More than 120 merchandise items and models of the unmistakable droid are on display at “The Fans Strike Back” in Stuttgart. A real must-see for every fan.

Of course, there’s one thing that no exhibition can do without these days: a virtual reality experience. With glasses on their noses, visitors can immerse themselves in the role of a pilot – and be shaken vigorously from the pilot’s seat.

The exhibition “The Fans Strike Back” can be seen from July 18 to October 29 at the Hanns-Martin-Schleyer-Halle in Stuttgart. Tickets are available from 27 euros.
