In winter, we like it cozy and comfortable. Not only at home, but also when we travel. We present four new hotels in Germany that are perfect for a break during the cold season.
Wald.Weit Rheingau Hotel & Retreat (from February 2025)
Where is it?
Above the slopes of the small town of Kiedrich in the tranquil Rheingau region, with fantastic views of the beautiful countryside. And not too far from Mainz and Wiesbaden. Despite this urban proximity, it is surrounded by 18 hectares of green forests.
How many rooms?
80 rooms
What about the interior?
The use of lots of warm wood and soft green tones, together with the floor-to-ceiling windows, ensures that the forest silently breaks the boundary between “outside” and “inside” in the rooms in the Wald.Weit. The wide wooden floorboards convey a cozy feeling of being at home: the comfortable beds are aligned so that when you get up, you can see the forest through the window. And in the bathroom, too, there is no cold white ceramic to be found; instead, muted earth and forest tones, where not a hint of hustle and bustle or stress can arise.
Food and drinks?
In the hotel’s own restaurant, Wald.Fein, head chef Falk Richter brings the diversity of the forest to your plate. And he always focuses on regionality and seasonality. The hotel even has its own herb garden, with its flavors finding their way into the kitchen’s creations. But of course, a hotel in the Rheingau would not be complete without a fine wine or two. These are not only served in the restaurant, but also in the lounge bar Wald.Tropfen.
What to do?
Relax, using every trick in the book. The Wald.Weit explicitly sees itself as a retreat from the hustle and bustle of the modern world. And what could be more suitable than a forest? Guests are spoilt for choice: whether they want to relax in the rooftop sauna and do yoga or venture out into the extensive forest on foot or by mountain bike. Either way, the Wald.Weit promises relaxation and balance for body and mind.

Muze Hotel Düsseldorf (from November 2024)
Where is it?
In the second most beautiful city on the Rhine, the capital of North Rhine-Westphalia, Düsseldorf. More precisely, in the hip Pempelfort district and in close proximity to the pretty Hofgarten.
How many rooms?
60 rooms
What about the interior?
A refreshing mix of modern elegance and classic mid-century elements characterizes the interior of the Muze Hotel. In the otherwise very tidy design of the bright, friendly rooms, there is a small desk that seems to come straight from the 1960s, or a cozy leather armchair with a straightforward steel frame. In the public areas, the design has been taken up a notch: lots of leather, highly polished wood paneling and carpets so enormous in size that you have to wonder wonder if they were woven right here. Additionally, the Muze houses numerous works by the artists Vangelis Kyris and Anatoli Georgiev, which give the rooms that certain extra cultural touch. It’s just right for Düsseldorf.
Food and drinks?
The hotel itself serves a breakfast buffet with vegetarian and vegan options. And in the evening, the bar, as the heart of the hotel, entices guests with stylish drinks and entertaining conversations. However, for the big appetite, you have to venture out into the surrounding area. But that’s not a problem, because Pempelfort boasts a high density of excellent restaurants serving a wide variety of cuisines, as well as plenty of nightlife options.
What to do?
Lots of things, after all, you are staying in the heart of the state capital. It’s just a short walk to Düsseldorf’s old town – the longest bar in the world, as it’s commonly referred to. In “Little Tokyo” between the main train station and the city center, authentic Japanese cuisine is served that is probably not available anywhere else in Europe. The Rhine is also not far away, and time flies on the Rhine terrace. And if you want to challenge your mind, just visit the Kunstpalast at Ehrenhof.

Occidental Dresden Newa (from November 2024)
Where is it?
In the Florence on the Elbe, the electoral residential city of Dresden. In the immediate vicinity of the main train station and just a stone’s throw from the baroque old town and the Elbe. So it’s in a prime location.
How many rooms?
319 rooms
What about the interior?
Clear, tidy and modern design. The Occidental Dresden Newa is a conference hotel, so guests should not expect any major design experiments here. Nevertheless, it is beautiful and, above all, the upper floors offer the very best view of Dresden. The hotel is located in one of the tallest skyscrapers in the city.
Food and drinks?
The most obvious place to satisfy small or large appetites is the hotel’s own restaurant, Le Boulevard. Whether breakfast, lunch or dinner, you will definitely leave satisfied. If you have the time and inclination, you can also make your way to the nearby old town. In addition to plenty of home-style restaurants, you can also take culinary excursions to other national cuisines. In any case this dream environment is a feast for the eyes.
What to do?
Have we already mentioned the old town? A visit to the rebuilt Frauenkirche is almost a must! The banks of the Elbe near the old town are also perfect for a stroll. And a visit to the Dresden Zwinger is a real highlight, and not just for art lovers.

Tribe Düsseldorf (opening November 2024)
Where is it?
Oops!? It’s going to Düsseldorf again. The Tribe is located as centrally as possible, less than a five-minute walk from Düsseldorf’s main train station. Right on the border of Little Tokyo and Friedrichstadt.
How many rooms?
146 rooms
What about the interior?
It’s giving disco! The 70s and 80s are given creative respect at Tribe Düsseldorf, and not without reason: from 1988 to 2000, the Bhagwan disco in the building on Graf-Adolf-Straße was a place to dance to precisely these beats. Accordingly, the Tribe presents itself today with disco balls, lounge-like booths and pop culture artworks in the rooms. These are also colorfully designed and, with their carpets and thickly padded furniture, create a wonderfully soft coziness.
Food and drinks?
In the in-house restaurant Tribe Table Cali, as the name suggests, Californian cuisine is served. Or at least inspired by California. In the bright, friendly rooms, guests can either take a seat at the elegant tables or in the cozy seating areas and enjoy healthy West Coast cuisine. Otherwise, Little Tokyo, with all its restaurant diversity, is right on your doorstep and it’s also not far to the old town with its many breweries – whether you’re looking for something elegant or hearty, you’ll be spoilt for choice.
What to do?
Plenty! You can wreak havoc in the old town, stroll through the beautiful streets of the trendy Bilk district, visit the North Rhine-Westphalia Art Collection, relax on the Rhine, take a stroll along the Kö or – for a more authentic Düsseldorf experience – have a drink at the champagne bar (!) in Germany’s largest Edeka supermarket. And if you need to, you can quickly take the train to Cologne…
