This Hotel in Koblenz Offers the Best View of the Moselle River

There are many reasons to spend a weekend in Koblenz: the beautiful old town, the warm hospitality of the Rhineland, the rich cultural history, the beautiful nature, the delicious food, or simply the excellent wine. But the city also stands for complete hospitality, and nowhere is this more evident than at the Hotel Fährhaus Koblenz, located directly on the Moselle.

The gleaming white hotel, with its prime location on the west bank of the Moselle and even its own marina (!), is the perfect retreat. After an eventful excursion to the city of Koblenz (by the way one of the oldest in Germany, founded by the Romans) or the surrounding area, the Fährhaus offers relaxing tranquility.

A modern hotel room; on the left, a wide bed with lots of pillows and a brown and gold bedspread, behind it a bathroom separated by a glass wall, and to the right, a brown wall cabinet. The bed faces the window on the right, behind which a green park with autumnal trees can be seen. The sky is blue.

With 37 rooms and 10 suites, the Fährhaus is just the right size. Guests here do not feel like anonymous numbers but like valued visitors – yet at the same time they are not constantly in the spotlight. And with room sizes ranging from a spacious 25 square meters in the Moselkoje to an airy 80 square meters in the penthouse, there is no room for feelings of claustrophobia. With their understated elegance and open layout, the accommodations offer their residents the space they need to relax and unwind completely.

On the right side at the bottom is a wooden table with two leather armchairs, and behind it is an upholstered seating area with many colorful cushions and a freestanding upholstered armchair, both on a carpet. The floor consists of dark floorboards. The right and rear walls of the room are completely glazed, allowing daylight to enter.

Whether it’s the warm, fluffy upholstered furniture, the floorboards that feel good underfoot, the elegant bathrooms, or the high-quality toiletries from “La Biosthétique Paris”: everything here is just right. But the real highlight of the rooms is the breathtaking view of the Moselle and the opposite bank. It almost gives you that cruise ship vibe. But then again, the floor doesn’t sway enough for that.

Culinary Double Pack

The hotel restaurant “Gotthardt’s” is also a classy affair. Head chef Yannick Noack is in charge and has earned the restaurant two stars in the 2025 Michelin Guide. All thanks to his skillful mix of traditional techniques, regional products, and international flair. How does a juicy piece of Wagyu beef with local vineyard peaches, Agria potatoes, and summer truffles sound, for example? If you want to find out, go for the eight-course menu. Here, too, the incomparable view of the Moselle is the icing on the cake.

Dining room in an upscale restaurant; in front of a window on the left are three square tables with white tablecloths and two chairs each, next to each of which is a wine cooler. On the right side are two more individual tables, and further back in the room is a longer table for four people. In the far background, there is an open area for serving food, and on the right side of the room, there is a bar with a large mirror. Through the windows on the left, you can see a river behind a terrace.

The hotel’s other restaurant, Landgang (“shore leave”), is a little more down-to-earth but still quality-conscious. Its menu features French-Mediterranean cuisine, also with regional ingredients and the occasional regional twist. “Gotthardt’s offers exclusive, modern cuisine, while Landgang delights with relaxed, regional specialties. Together, they create an experience where our guests can enjoy both fine flavors and a pleasant atmosphere,” summarizes the chef.

Endless Relaxation

To make the weekend getaway truly complete, some physical relaxation is also in order. This is another area in which the Fährhaus excels. The 600-square-meter spa area is the perfect place to have the last knots massaged out of your back. A panoramic pool, saunas, steam bath, and relaxation areas with a view of the Moselle (of course!) – what more could a body burdened by everyday life want? Exactly. And thanks to the relaxing massages and treatments, carried out with natural products, a stay at the Fährhaus quickly becomes a complete wellness retreat.

You could almost forget that there is still a wonderful city to explore. Koblenz itself is undoubtedly one of the location advantages of the Fährhaus. A trip to the “Deutsches Eck” is a must on any city break. The monument marks the confluence of the Moselle and the Rhine. And the banks of the Moselle are lined with museums that are well worth a visit. Whether you’re in the mood for historical exhibitions or modern art. The best view is from the mighty Ehrenbreitstein Fortress, which can be easily reached by cable car.

And the surrounding area of Koblenz is also well worth exploring. It is not without reason that the Moselle valley is considered one of the most beautiful corners of Germany. Whether on a hiking trip, a day’s cycling or, in keeping with the surroundings, on a chartered yacht sailing upstream: a trip to the Moselle is an experience to remember. Especially when the Fährhaus Koblenz becomes your home away from home.
